Dental hygiene tips for healthy teeth & gums

Are retainers good for your teeth?

Retrainers are good for your teeth because they prevent dental relapse. Once you are done with your Invisalign treatment, you still have to wear retainers to prevent your teeth from shifting back to their original position. Retainers do not only protect your teeth from moving back and forth, but they also help in providing them with the necessary support to stay strong. Retainers are made according to the impression of your teeth, just like the Invisalign aligners.

Your dentist will guide you on how you have to wear your retainers. Depending upon your teeth condition, he will tell you whether you must wear your retainers at night or day and for how long. Generally, people wear retainers for 6-12 months after their teeth straightening treatment. But every case is different; hence, the time differs in each case. It is vital to wear retainers to stabilize the adjustment of your teeth after the Invisalign treatment. There are two types of retainers available in the market: metal one and plastic one; it depends on your dentist which one you want to choose as both provide almost the same benefits. Retrainers simply hold your teeth in place and prevent the forces applied to them from a normal daily activity like chewing.

There are various benefits of retainers. Some of them are listed below:

  • Keeps your teeth intact in line
