How long do 40 Invisalign trays take?

Invisalign treatment is different for everyone. The treatment duration depends on whether your upper teeth overlap your lower teeth (overbite). Your lower teeth extend to your upper teeth (underbite) if you have crooked or crowded teeth or significant gaps between your teeth. These are some of the factors which determine the time of your treatment.

Generally, your teeth straightening process should take around nine to twelve months. But if you have significant issues in your teeth, you might have to use up to 40 trays to align your teeth properly, and it can take up to two years.

Apart from significant issues in your teeth, what affects your treatment time is your dedication to your aligners for more than 22 hours a day. If you are inconsistent or take out your aligners frequently for more than 2 hours, it can hamper your teeth straightening process and take more time than it should to align your teeth. In addition, your age can also affect your Invisalign treatment. If you are young, your teeth can be aligned easily as your bones and teeth structure are not as firm as an adult. In adults, the teeth could take more time to get properly aligned.

How many Invisalign trays do you need?

The amount of Invisalign trays you need depends on the conditions of your teeth and the extent of your treatment. People who require less or minimal teeth straightening can be given around 15-25 Invisalign trays, whereas those who need more major teeth straightening treatment can be given around 40-50 Invisalign trays. But on average, a patient requires around 20-30 sets of Invisalign aligners.

Lastly, consult your dentist for a quick and proper treatment if you face any problem with your Invisalign treatment, like unbearable pain or discomfort.
