Cleaning Up Dental Myths – Part 1

At Lavaca Dental, we often meet patients who have dental problems because they believe certain myths. All myths start somewhere, but all we know is that have been passed along by word of mouth and affected our patients’ dental health. Dental health has a huge impact on your quality of life, and that is why we are going to take a few blogs to dispel these myths!

Flossing is great, but not that important

Many people see flossing as an extra step in their dental routine. It is anything but! The fact is, your teeth have more than a front and a back. 33 percent of your teeth’s surface area cannot be touched by your toothbrush. If you don’t floss, the bacteria stuck between your teeth will cause pain and decay. All the times your mom told you to floss are completely justified!

The whitest teeth are the healthiest

Though healthy teeth will be on the whiter side, every person’s teeth have natural color, and your teeth can be blazing white on the front and rotting in between. Teeth also discolor more and more with age, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t healthy. Your first priority should be to have no cavities or other issues.

At Lavaca Dental, we are proud to provide world-class dental services, including dental whitening. Whether you need emergency dental care or it’s time to brighten your smile, we are to help. Our family-friendly office and staff will always be ready to understand what is going on and fix the problem. Contact us today!
